Creatrix Tiara

Creatrix Tiara is a genderqueer artist and activist. Born and raised in Johor, Malaysia, to a Bangladeshi family, Tiara experienced tremendous amounts of discrimination from a young age due to her ethnic background and appearance. In the face of this she started identifying with the platypus: a being made of many parts that don’t fit together, but still work. Her activism began with an internship at the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco. She later went on to join organizations and causes ranging from SOMArts to Slutwalk. She has worked with Lesbians Who Tech in order to bring attention to queer women in the technology industry.

Tiara’s artistry is influenced by race, gender, sexuality, nationality, and identity. Tiara’s work has been featured in Cosmopolitan Magazine and Bustle with pieces ranging from her burlesque dancing to her latest mobile apps. She currently resides in Johor, Malaysia where she continues to write and perform.
